My Valentine's Detox Group

This blog is dedicated to all those brave souls who are doing the Detox with me after the crazy amount of chocolate that was eaten, along with a little wine drinking both done over the Valentine's weekend (I'm guilty too! haha) This was mainly what struck me with the idea of doing a Complete Body Cleanse.

As I promised to my newsletter readers( www.getfitin6.com ) and those that opted to participate in doing this 14 day Detox with me, I have written out what I intend to do, how I intend to it, and which cleanse I will be using. You will read all about it in just a couple of paragraphs down below, but first I need to tell you why I am up and doing this so late on a Friday night.

What's crazy, is that it's 4 in the morning on a Friday and I'm trying to get this done for you... I had to go out around 10 pm because I had told a friend that I would be there to support an event they had. I didn't take my car, so I did not mean to stay out this late... So please excuse my bad grammar. and flow of this blog..I am writing as I am thinking right now.

As soon as I got home I got on the computer and started trying to figure out how I am supposed to email those that emailed me back...because there are 67 of you, I couldn't write an email one by one. I mean I could of, but surely you would have started your detox late because of the amount of time it would have taken me....

In any case I am so happy to be helping you all do a detox!!! So without further blah blah here it is! :

Yey!

Detox Time!!!

Here is the Detox that I am doing and I am glad you are gonna follow along with me! I do this about 1 to 2 times a year. My body is pretty clear on letting me know what is going on. I have become more and more aware of my body over the years, whether it is feeling tired, or my hip hurts, or I have a stomach ache. Your body says it all loud and clear, I believe the body is your unconscious mind-LISTEN TO YOUR BODY.

2 Great Books to Help you with Your Detox: (Optional, but Highly Recommended)

One Great Book You may want to invest in for understanding the messages your body is trying to give you is: You Can Heal Your Life by Louise L. Hay. I feel detoxing has also to do with mind and spirit, not just body.

The other very helpful book that which I will be using as my guide for this Particular Detox is The Detox Strategy, by Brenda Watson, C.N.C. with Leonard Smith M.D.

The reasons why I wanna detox are because
1. I always need to be as healthy as possible so i can help others do the same (practice what i preach)
2. I feel a extra tired lately and having lots of stomach discomfort...somethings not right!
3. I wanna get rid of my caffeine addiction which is partly due to me feeling tired.
4. I wanna feel My 100% self...full of life and energy
5. My sinuses!!!
6. I wanna look younger for longer!! Ha
7. Because I love life and want to enjoy it to the fullest!!

Overall Detoxing will help you:

Increase your energy levels (you may be tired due to toxins), help absorb nutrients properly, help get rid of that excess weight you've been holding on to, help you get rid of waste and toxins, help your organs take a break, help decelerate the aging process, Boost your immune system, cleanses urinary tract, benefits skin conditions, purifies the blood, helps decrease respiratory mucus, soothes bowel elimination, and help preserve vitality and overall health!

The Cleanse I bought

365 Whole Foods Brand-Complete Body Cleanse. (I saved $15 dolla, make me holla) It is the generic version of Enzymatica Whole Body Cleanse. This one in particular is very gentle on the system and it does not contain any powder mixtures, which i find kind of gross-just my personal opinion. This one in particular is 14 days. Ooops...I know I had mentioned 7 but I'm gonna do 14. So 14 it is my friends, You can do it! (In the Detox Strategy book, Brenda Watson recommends doing a total body basic cleanse first, which is for a period of 14 days.)

If you can't find that brand, another good one is Renew Life brand.

This is What I will be doing Saturday...and hopefully YOU Too! (along with filming the intro to my brand new site...yippee...hope i have the energy since its 420 am right now and filming is at 11)

1. Go buy the Cleanse at either Whole Foods or any other Natural Food Store.
Enzymatica or Whole Foods Brand
Renew Life
2. Go to Grocery Store and Stock up on the following foods (mainly Organically grown) and Supplements:

1. Vitamins and Minerals , Mine is from Juice Plus, or you can get other forms such as Alive or Country life (these vitamins are made from food so they are completely bioavailable by the body)

and an additional calcium and magnesium supplement for women and a magnesium supplement for men.

2. Protein: Eggs, Chicken, Turkey, Whey Protein (best one is from http://www.americanwhey.com/ it is completely free of lactose, very low on carbs and fat, and tastes like a milkshake with only adding ice and water!) or choose one free of lactose, wild fish (preferably salmon).

3. Krill or Fish oil caps(if allergic to fish chose flax seed caps)

4. Probiotic with all strands mine is Renew Life brand

5. A good Enzyme Supplement that digest carbs, fats, dairy, and protein...mine is Enzymedica brand

6. Green Formula or Super Food Pill form for me, I dislike powder.

7. Water!! Either Filtered or Distilled, avoid tap...and add lemon to your water( lemon is a natural stimulant to bile production and helps cleanse the kidneys) Drink half your body weight at least...if you exercise double that.

8. All sorts of green leafy veggies

9. Fruits low on glycemic index..I do mainly berries (blueberries, raspberries, ) but you can also do pears, peaches, plums.

10. Mana bread is ok...it is sprouted, yeast free and salt free.

11. Oatmeal is ok.

What to Avoid or minimize...
1. No beans, starchy veggies such as squash, yams, potatoes.
2. No coffee (if you are a coffee drinker ween yourself off of it with green tea)
3. No black teas either
4. No Dairy products (if you must include chose plain yogurt or cheeses such as goat or feta..use sparingly, no more than 1/2 cup)
5. No Soy except for in the form of tempeh, miso, or natto
6. No alcohol
7. No mushrooms, broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts (can cause gas and bloating)
8. No Sugar, artificial sweeteners, artificial colorings,
9. No Wheat

(I already eat like this pretty much, but it took several years.)

Certain Things You should know that have certainly helped me with my digestive issues...I had digestive issues since I was little. Doctors would recommend pills, but I knew there was a better way to get to the root of the problem...

1. Don't drink with your meals, wait at least 20 minutes because it does not help the digestion process
2. add lemon to your water as much as possible, it helps with normalizing your pH and helps with digestion
3. Take an enzyme right before your meals
4. Eat Slowly to help in your digestion
5. Eat Small Meals
6. Try to avoid as much as possible those items mentioned above
7. Exercise!!!

Wow...so much being covered....

Alright so here is my cleansing schedule More or less!

1. 745am (this is when I awake) Drink 12 oz small water bottle. Probiotic...oh and add lemon to the water
2. 800 am. Take 4 pills of Fiber blend with another glass of water...Meditate for 10 minutes.
3. 8;15 Eat breakfast: 2 slices of Mana bread 2 egg whites 1 yolk, 1/2 cup of blueberries..Take Enzyme, Fish oil, and multivitamin 8;45 Hot green tea

4. 10:30 Protein Shake with spinach(cant taste it), and greens supplement

Ok Yari....I spent about an hour reading labels at the store and bought all my "essentials." I am psyching myself up for tomorrow morning...14 days should be a cinch! (I hope) - just one more step to reaching my goal. Well definitely have feedback for you on Monday afternoon.

Hi Yari,
just got your e-mail today. Wasn't at work. I'm going to pickup things tonight. If I can't find the book you reference, how are you choosing your menu?

Yari,
sorry - what I meant to say was do you just have a protein & veg at every meal except for the protein drinks? or just eat what you feel like within the guidelines?

At 4:07 PM, Blogger Coach Yari said...

eat within the guidelines...however if you want to get your metabolism even faster yes do stick a protein with almost every meal..and green veggies.

I just wanted to drop a note to the group, I called Yari tonight and I was doing somethings incorrectly so my point is call her talk to her or email her even if you think you are doing great. She not only set some things straight for me but just her enthusiam gave me the inspiration to keep going!!

ok so the first 4 days were pretty rough, but today im feeling really good (day 5) and know I will be able to survive the rest of the way now. and not having any coffee has not even given me headaches, maybe due to all the other good things entering my body. Thanks Yari. Never thought that would happen

Just wanted to share a receipe that I prepared for dinner this evening, I took organic chicken breast, peaches, balsamic viniger and basil, I put the peaches a teaspoon of basil and tablespoon of balsamic in the blender and blended it up and cooked the chicken breast on the stove in the sauce, it was really filling-only ate half of the chicken and made me feel full but not weighed down after

Hey Yari,

Day 5 and 7 lbs down! Amazing! I am even use to the early morning "meditations" sessions that come with detoxing (Ugh). What is even better - my new (now old)form fitting jeans are no longer "form-fitting" but very baggy in the waist!

So I am all for bringing on the second part of this program and learning to eat with my new braces...Who knows - maybe between the two (the program and braces) I will hit my goal earlier than I thought.

Oh and as hungry as I am from not being able to chew - the goats milk yogurt is now delicious!

Yari,
So I'm into day 5 now. So far so good. I went to an auction today & end even took my protein shake and greens since I was going to be there when I needed to take them. This morning I did yoga stretching. Made me feel good. So far I am down 5 lbs. I was woried about the weekend more than during the week but I'm sticking to the detox.

Wow! so many are doing so well..so proud of all of you and I'm sure you are feeling as awesome as I am.

I'm sticking to it as well, it has been great...the detox is actually filling, i look leaner than ever, my skin clearer, and i feel energized without even green tea.

Although I did want a piece of dark chocolate, i didn't do it, I instead had a little goats milk yogurt with some blueberries and a couple of walnuts!

The only one thing i have noticed is that i can't workout too intensely just cause i don't have the energy for it. It actually mentioned light workouts in the instructions, so don't do anything too crazy!
